Windows 10 has two type of memory, system memory and reserved memory. Reserving memory is very good for your computer because Windows will use them when it is critically needed (if you don’t reserve memory then Windows will use your system memory)
Reserved memory give priority to your programs and if you have a program that need more memory then Windows will use your system memory. So how to optimize reserved windows 10?
There are many ways to do this, but we will show you two methods. The first one is through Disk Cleanup Utility and the second one is through Command Prompt.
Disk Cleanup Utility is a built-in Windows tool that can help you clean up your disk and free up some space. To optimize the reserved memory through Disk Cleanup Utility you must follow these steps:
- Press Windows Key + S and input disk cleanup. Then click on Disk Cleanup Utility.
- Click on the system reserved drive and then click on OK.
- Tick the box next to Clean up system files and then click on OK.
- The utility will start calculating the amount of space that can be freed. Once it is done you will get a notification that the disk cleanup is ready. Click on OK.
- The utility will start to Optimize system performance by freeing up space on your hard drive. The optimization process may take a few minutes to complete, be patient and wait for the utility to finish optimizing your system reserved drive.
The second way to optimize your system reserved drive is by using Command Prompt. To do this you must follow these steps:
- Press Windows Key + X and then click on Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type the following command and press Enter: dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ResetBase
- The dism.exe command will reset your system reserved partition to its default state. The process may take a few minutes to complete, be patient and wait for the command to finish.
- When the command is finished you will get a message that the operation was successful.
These are two ways that you can optimize your system reserved drive in Windows 10.
